“on the trail again.”

Location: Guadalupe Mountains National Park & Carlsbad Caverns National Park

Distance: 577 miles (9hr 42min drive)

Activity: Overnight Camping/Day Hiking - Devil’s Hall Trail (hard: 3.6) & McKittrick Canyon Trail (moderate: 8 mi); Carlsbad Cavern National Park (sightseeing)

This was my first time back on a hiking trip since last year. With a combination of high elevation and allergies, I was a bit worried about the hike that morning. After eating a menthol lozenge, we started the hike through the Devil’s Hall Trail. The views were amazing from dawn to dusk.

The McKittrick Canyon Trail (insert beautiful LinkedIn profile shots) was a longer trail but a bit more flat. We started and completed this trail mid day with a nice continuous breeze through the hike.

Sadly, we did not get to see the bats at Carlsbad Caverns National Park (the last reservation is taken at 2:15 pm Mountain Time). I did however get some pretty nice landscape shots before returning back to our campsite. Overall, I rate this trip a 10 out of 10!
