“all in the family.”

“What bountiful fruit this family tree has produced. This weekend was a celebration of love, life, endurance, and faith.”

Our family came together to celebrate the lives that are present and past. With the ceremony taking place on Easter Sunday, our family spent the beginning of the day worshiping together. You almost could feel our family’s ancestors there with us. Throughout the weekend, our family communed together around stories of childhood mischief, lineage, and some of the best dang barbecue I have ever tasted in my life. Of course, what’s a celebration without food? There was no shortage of homemade mac & cheese, smoked brisket, and delicious pecan candy.

Although my time with my family was short, one of my favorite memories was a conversation I had with one of my great-aunts. She mentioned first off that she knew who my daddy was. “You are Teelu's son, huh? One of the twins? You know you look like my daddy. Theodore is your middle name?” I will never forget the smile she gave me. I had never met her before (at least in my adult life), and she welcomed me with open arms. This weekend was a celebration of love, life, endurance, and faith.
